In the heartlands of Maharashtra, where traditions run deep and opportunities are often scarce, a quiet revolution is underway. Led by the Royal Big Grace Foundation, this revolution isn’t fought with protests or politics — but with skills, self-confidence, and sisterhood.
Empowering women isn’t just about gender equality; it’s about creating a stronger, more self-reliant society. And in villages around Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Royal Big Grace Foundation is sowing the seeds of change — one woman at a time.
Why Women Empowerment Matters
When you empower a woman, you empower a generation. Studies show that when women are educated and financially independent:
-
Household income increases.
-
Children’s education and health improve.
-
Domestic violence and social dependency decrease.
But for many rural women in Maharashtra, lack of access to training, support, and resources makes empowerment a distant dream.
That’s where Royal Big Grace Foundation steps in.
The Foundation’s Approach to Women Empowerment
Our vision is not to simply “help” women — but to give them the tools to help themselves.
1. Skill Development Workshops
We organize tailoring, beauty, and handicraft workshops that teach women marketable skills. These sessions are often the first time many participants handle a sewing machine, mix beauty formulas, or create handcrafted products.
2. Self-Help Groups (SHGs)
We encourage women to form Self-Help Groups, where they pool savings and start micro-businesses. These SHGs are also safe spaces to discuss community issues and support each other emotionally and financially.
3. Confidence and Leadership Training
Many rural women struggle with confidence due to long-standing societal norms. Through personality development sessions, spoken English classes, and leadership training, we help them realize their worth.
A Real Story: Sunita’s Transformation
Sunita, a 32-year-old mother of two from a village near Sambhaji Nagar, once believed that her life was meant to be confined to household chores. After attending one of our tailoring programs, she not only started earning by stitching clothes for villagers but also trained 10 more women in her locality.
Today, she runs her own small tailoring center and says,
“पहिले मी घरी बसून होती, आता मी काहीतरी करतेय, माझंही नाव होतोय.”
Her story is one of hundreds that inspire us to do more.
Tackling Deeper Issues
While skill-building is important, we also address social and emotional barriers:
-
Early Marriage & Dowry Awareness: We conduct awareness drives about the harmful effects of child marriage and dowry.
-
Health & Hygiene Camps: We educate women on menstrual health, nutrition, and general wellness.
-
Legal Support: In collaboration with local legal bodies, we guide women on how to access their rights, including filing complaints about domestic abuse or inheritance rights.
Men as Allies
Empowering women is not possible without involving men. Our programs also include male community leaders and family members, educating them about the benefits of women’s empowerment, not just for the individual, but for the entire household and community.
